Does Macbook Pro Support Target Display Mode. While in Target Display Mode only the keyboards display brightness volume and Target Display Mode key combinations are active. You cant daisy chain iMacs in Target Display Mode.
According to Apple the new Thunderbolt-equipped iMacs do in fact support Target Display Mode allowing you to use them as an external monitor. So Ive recently purchased an M1 MacBook Pro but want to extend the display to my 215 iMac mid 2011 using target display mode. The Mac being used as the source for the display cant make use of any of the display iMacs features including the built-in iSight camera.
Meanwhile Apple has yet to enable target display mode for its high-resolution iMac.
Target Display Mode basically turns your iMac into simple monitor so if you have two iMacs and lets say a new Mac Pro you can put both iMacs into TDM connect them to the Mac Pro and have two displays for your new Mac workstation. Nothing happens when I press Cmd-F2 on the iMac using an Apple keyboard - some people have reported problems with non Apple keyboards. Any other keyboard input will be ignored. Meanwhile Apple has yet to enable target display mode for its high-resolution iMac.
